The Coaches Association of Saskatchewan (CAS) and the Aboriginal Coaches and Officials Program (ACOP) are supporting up to three (3) Saskatchewan Aboriginal Coaches to attend the 2017 Petro-Canada Sport Leadership sportif conference. The conference will be held in Calgary, AB from November 2-4, 2017.

The 2017 Conference Theme is Performance Shift: Cultivating Disruption. In 2017, many organizations from both public and private industries are being impacted by disruption. With accelerated advancements in technology, improved service-delivery models, and innovative marketing and communication tactics, coupled with the impressive rise of the millennial generation in our workforce, Canada is developing at an unprecedented rate. Disruption is driving significant change.

Who is Eligible to Apply?
The content delivered in the Sport Leadership conference is geared towards advanced coaches who have the experience, skills, and training to coach competitive athletes and teams. To be eligible to apply, coaches must fit the following criteria:

  • Be of Aboriginal ancestry (Non-Status, Status/Treaty, Métis, or Inuit);
  • Be actively coaching and committed to coach in the long term;
  • Have had experience coaching competitive teams or athletes;
  • Have coaching experience at one or more of the following competitions:
    • North American Indigenous Games
    • Sask First Nation Winter/Summer Games
    • Saskatchewan Winter/Summer Games
    • Western Canada or Canada Games
    • Provincial, Regional or National Championships (mainstream or Aboriginal)
  • Have completed some NCCP Coach Training;
  • Be passionate about coaching and eager to learn and develop your own coaching skills and abilities.
