Province Proclaims Coaches Week in
The Honourable Kevin Doherty, Minister of Parks, Culture and Sport along with the Coaches Association of Saskatchewan has once again proclaimed May 25 - June 1, 2013 as Coaches Week in Saskatchewan. This week, we take time to recognize and celebrate the valuable contributions coaches make to sport and our communities, as well as to offer education opportunities for Saskatchewan coaches.

MAKING HEAD WAY IN SPORT – a new Concussion eLearning module
FREE for a limited time! Designed to help you gain the knowledge and skills required to ensure the safety of your athletes, this multi-sport module will cover: what to do to prevent concussions, how to recognize the signs and symptoms of a concussion, what to do when you suspect an athlete has a concussion, and how to ensure athletes return to play safely.
You should expect to spend 60-90 minutes completing this module, and will receive credit for completion on your coaching transcript in the Locker.

Team and Coach of the Year to be honoured at the 2013 Senior Bowl as 2012 Saskatchewan Sport Award Recipients
The 2012 Saskatoon Hilltops and Head Coach Tom Sargeant will be honoured by Sask Sport Inc. and Football Saskatchewan during half-time at the final 12 man game of the Senior Bowl, being held at Mosaic Stadium in Regina on Monday, May 20. The 12 man game starts at 5:00 p.m. Dave Pettigrew, Vice President, Saskatchewan Lotteries will make the presentation to the 2012 Coach of the Year and 2012 Team of the Year Awards on behalf of Sask Sport Inc.

Canada Basketball announces Lisa Thomaidis as Senior Women's National Team Head Coach
Canada Basketball is proud to announce the appointment of Lisa Thomaidis as the new head coach of the Senior Women’s National Team (SWNT).
Canada Basketball President and CEO, Wayne Parrish, believes strongly in the Dundas, Ontario native, given her wealth of knowledge and experience. “We are very excited to announce Lisa Thomaidis as our next Canadian Senior Women’s National Team head coach. Lisa has played an integral role in the development of our nation’s basketball players, both as a national team assistant coach for the past 11 years and as the current head coach of the University of Saskatchewan Huskies in Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS). Having worked under the tutelage of successful former national team coaches Bev Smith and Allison McNeill, Lisa is ready to put her stamp on the program and continue its momentum.”

Sask Sport Inc. announces the Respect in Sport (RiS) On-line program for Coaches
Sask Sport Inc.; the Saskatchewan Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport and Respect Group Inc. are pleased to announce the implementation of Respect in Sport (RiS) for Coaches, Canada’s first on-line training program for coaches to help create a safer and harassment-free environment for youth and adults participating in sport.

NCCP Fundamental Movement Skills
The NCCP Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS) workshop is designed to teach leaders of youth how to analyze and improve a child’s movement pattern along a development continuum. The workshop has been tailored for delivery in three distinct settings:
- Coach Professional Development – a 3-hour PD workshop for coaches
- Community Leader – a 8-hour workshop for leaders of youth in physical activity
- High School Leadership – for senior students facilitated by a PE teacher in a PE class setting.
