Coaches Week in Saskatchewan
The Coaches Association of Saskatchewan (CAS) along with the Government of Saskatchewan is proud to announce that May 22 - 29, 2011 has been declared as Coaches Week in Saskatchewan. The purpose of Coaches Week is to:

  • Recognize the valuable contributions coaches make to sport and community;
  • Promote coaching and encourage people to get involved; and
  • Offer coach education opportunities for Saskatchewan's coaches.

    To maximize the impact we would like to invite and encourage your organization as well as your member clubs and teams to do something special to recognize your coaches during Coaches Week.

    NATIONAL COACHING CERTIFICATION PROGRAM (NCCP)

    • Upcoming NCCP Multi-sport Workshops

    • 2010 Saskatchewan NCCP Statistics In 2010, the Coaches Association of Saskatchewan in partnership with Districts and other partners trained the following coaches in NCCP multi sport courses:

      Competition Introduction - Part A
      25 Workshops, trained 310 coaches (143 female, 167 male)

      Competition Introduction - Part B
      13 Workshops, trained 187 coaches (82 female, 105 male)

      Fundamental Movement Skills
      4 Workshops, trained 71 coaches (29 female, 42 male)

      Competition Development
      30 Workshops, trained 111 coaches (54 female, 57 male)

      Making Ethical Decisions
      5 Workshops, trained 96 coaches (35 female, 63 male)

      Home Study Delivery
      5 coaches received multi sport training through home study delivery

    • NCI Advanced Coaching Diploma Program The advanced Coaching Diploma Program offered by the National Coaching Institute - Saskatchewan (NCI-SK) predominantly targets coaches working with Training to Compete athletes.

    • How to access your NCCP education transcript on line
      Coaches can view or print their NCCP education transcript by using the “Check Certification” function on the CAC website. Simply enter your last name and CC# in the text boxes provided.

    • NCCP Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS)
      “Improving children’s lives through physical literacy”
      Is your sport organization, school, or community interested in running a FMS workshop?

      The NCCP Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS) workshop introduces participants to the value of solid fundamental movement skills. It is designed to teach leaders of youth how to analyze and improve a child’s movement pattern along a development continuum.

    Coach Professional Development Grants available

    CAS manages a total of 5 grant programs that are geared at developing coaches in Saskatchewan.

    Aboriginal Coaches and Officials Program Update
    The Aboriginal Coaches and Officials Program (ACOP) under the leadership of ACOP Coordinator Clay DeBray continues to be a success. During the 10/11 fiscal year, 472 aboriginal coaches & officials were supported to receive training opportunities. Since the inception of this program back in 2007 the program has trained over 1900 aboriginal coaches & officials. This program is supported through the Building Future Champions Federal/Provincial Bilateral Program administered by Sport Canada and funded in part by the Saskatchewan Lotteries Trust Fund.

    Congratulations to those Saskatchewan coaches who coached their athlete(s) or team(s) to medal winning performances at National Championships or major Multi-sport Games during 2010.

    2011 CANADA WINTER GAMES

    Congratulations and Thank You Team Sask Coaches!
    Team Sask had another strong performance at the 2011 Canada Winter Games in Halifax finishing 6th overall and capturing 23 medals. Hats off to all the coaches for their efforts in preparing their athletes for the Games.

      This course is designed for those coaching competitive swimmers. This is the initial course no matter which coaching level/context you are going to pursue (Fundamentals Coach, Skills Coach or Competition Coach).
